Since the launch of the PS5 Pro, these add-ons have been almost impossible to find on the shelves, and they were already rare before that. As more and more digital-only consoles make their way into players' homes, these extra accessories fly off the shelves faster and faster. There’s some good news today, though. After a month of silence,GameStopis the first retailer I’ve seen in the US offering more PS5 disc drive stock. While it’s reserved for Pro members at the moment, I’m able to add the drive to cart and head to checkout - much further than I’ve been able to get before. Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon are remaining quiet - and things are looking similarly barren in the UK as well. The official PS5 disc drive costs $79.99 / £99.99 and is a requiredPS5 accessoryfor anyone who wants to play physical games on aPS5 Proor a digital edition PS5 Slim. The combined price of a PS5 Slim Digital Edition and a PS5 disc drive does exceed the cost of a full-fat PS5 Slim (with the disc drive permanently attached), so if you’re on the cusp of picking up a console it’s well worth spending the extra on the main release. Of course, if you’re upgrading your system you’ve come to the exact right place. I’ve been scouring the web for the retailers offering these hard to find drives, and you’ll find all my treasure just below.
